FIFO Jobs in Australia
A FIFO job, which stands for fly-in-fly-out, is a method of employing workers in remote areas. Flying them into a work site on a temporary basis, companies in rural locations tend to prefer this arrangement as it means they don't have to ask employees to relocate on a permanent basis. As such, it's a popular option with backpackers looking for casual work while they travel the country.
FIFO roles are common in the mining industry, which is a large sector in Australia. While days are long, the contracts are usually very short, lasting one to two weeks. Accommodation, meals and some recreational activities are also usually covered by the employer, making them very appealing. FIFO jobs also allow travellers to discover new parts of Australia that aren't tourist hotspots and are off the beaten track. FIFO offers excellent salaries for entry level roles - which is great if you're looking for a FIFO job with no experience.
