For harvesting roles in Victoria, head to the areas surrounding Shepparton, Rochester and Echuca. Here there’s plenty of orchards of apples, pears and plums. Generally, these need to be picked between November and April.
Practical, hands-on jobs are often available on farms in Victoria with construction or maintenance tasks being needed. These are often very physical or require heavy lifting so you’ll need be fit and healthy to take these jobs on.
Other farm jobs in Victoria include working on dairy farms to milk the cows and feed the livestock. You could also tend to laying hens, rearing pigs, shear sheep’s wool or harvest crops.
Regional factory work is also available in Victoria. In this role, you’d be cleaning, preparing and packing goods to be sold to warehouses, retailers or markets such as the Queen Victoria Market. You may be required to operate machinery so a forklift licence would be beneficial.
