Farm jobs in Canberra
Nicknamed the "Bush Capital" for its setting within farmland and native forests, Canberra is situated within its own territory to the southwest of Sydney. It’s centred around picturesque Lake Burley Griffin, with Australia’s modern Parliament House boasting a commanding position on its banks, together with the National Gallery of Australia which features an impressive indigenous art collection. Although Canberra is the political heart of the country, it’s also home to a lively student population, which means great eateries and nightlife, as well as the eclectic weekend markets at the Old Bus Depot.
Farm jobs in Canberra are available in the rural surrounds, with some general farm labouring and plant cultivation work to be found, together with long-term jackaroo and jillaroo positions on large stations. Seasonal fruit picking work is also available in the towns of Jugiong and Young to the north of Canberra, with cherries harvested during November/December, stone fruit from January to March and blueberries from December through to April.
