We are looking for a cook/foodie/lover of food to work 3 days midweek to work autonomously in the kitchen supplementing our cabinet food display. Items include toasties, rotis, cakes, muffins, sausage rolls, pizza's. Burgers and fish and chips also on the menu.

If you love it, you might like to extend your stay in the peak season if you like the fast-paced environment.

About Kafe Koala General Store:
Kafe Koala General Store is located on the Great Ocean Road in the hamlet of Kennett River on the surfcoast. It services the local community, day trippers, holiday homes, caravan park and tour buses. The store provides freshly made takeaway meals and sweets, coffee and souvenirs. It is easily accessible to neighbouring towns and regional centres: 2.5hrs from Melbourne, 25 minutes from Lorne or Apollo Bay, 30 minutes from the Otways, 1.5hrs from Geelong and 5 minutes from Wye River. If you have your own transport that’s a positive as public transport is limited to 3x daily.

What we can offer you:
• Starting date asap
• On site accommodation available- cost up to $80 per week.
• Casual award rates $ 32.73per hour (Mon-Fri, Sat $39.27, Sun $45.82
• Initially 3 days mid week- 9am – 3pm. In peak season, this will extend
to 5 days per week with longer hours including some weekends.

What we need from you:
• Maintain food preparation areas, cooking surfaces and utensils
• Manage sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas
• Clean, cut and prepare foods for cooking
• Cook basic recipes- cakes, muffins, slices, sausage rolls
• Cook food of consistent quality with recipes and portion controls
• Prepare a range of cabinet food including but not limited to- roti,
sandwiches,
arancini, pakora, fruit pots etc
• Run large volume cooking equipment- grills, deep fryers
• Clean all kitchen workstations/equipment/floors etc at the end of the
shift
• Read food dockets and receive verbal instructions.
• Wash, stock and restock workstations and display cabinets
• Check against invoices kitchen stock delivered and put away stock.
• Prepare a prep list each day at the end of your shift
• Prepare a list of supplies for the manager to order as required
• You may be asked to serve customers at the till
• Barista experience preferred!
• Take drink and food orders and receive customer payment

Skills & Experience
• No certification required however experience is essential
• Work within a team and independently
• Team player
• Fast paced environment- fun and lively attitude and approach!
• Ability to show initiative and multi-task
• A vehicle is highly recommended.
