Senior Chef

Cactus Kangaroo Island Cafe & Restaurant is looking for a Senior chef in the kitchen team. We are located centrally in the town of Kingscote in Kangaroo Island, serving breakfast and lunches 7 days a week, and seasonal dinners. Occasionally we also will take on additional catering for private homes, events and also weddings.
We have grown from a team of 4 staff to currently have 16 staff in total, including 8 full-time employees since we opened in late 2017. With a new exciting project on the horizon, we are looking at adding a new member to the team to help the owners to the next level.

The right candidate will need to have the following criteria;
-Hand-on approach to kitchen operation.
-Experience in fast-paced cafes/restaurants.
-Good communication skills with a diverse ethnicity team.
-Passion in using the abundance of local fresh produce and connect with local suppliers
-Ability to handle intense pressure and manage a small kitchen operation.
-Understanding and experience in ordering and stock control.
-Ability to create a seasonal menu and promote the cafe's culinary philosophy.
-Understand basic food cost management.

This role is for someone who is ready to take the next step in their career to learn and grow as part of a growing business on Kangaroo Island. A lucrative salary package with accommodation and bonuses will be offered depending on skills and performance.
Visa/ permanent sponsorship is available too for the right person looking to extend their stay in Australia.
