Head Chef

Iluka Tavern is situated on the sunny east coast of Tasmania in the heart of Colesbay, surrounded by the famous Freycinet National Park.
Iluka Tavern is a young family run business looking to upgrade and expand the business to its full potential.
We trade seven days per week, and serve up to 1000+ covers per week.
Iluka Tavern now invites applicants to apply for the full-time position of Head Chef.
What are we looking for?
A chef who can run kitchen operations professionally and effectively. Ordering and stock control, menu creation/costing and design, staff development/training/coaching, and rostering.
A modern and creative cooking style with a strong emphasis on presentation and quality consistency.
A demonstrated passion for using fresh produce and incorporating local produce when available.
Ability to negotiate with suppliers and source the best produce at the best price.
Ability to create event and function menus on a regular basis, including weddings.
Demonstrated ability in achieving set targets on food and labour costs.
Exceptional leadership skills, with proven results in developing and motivating teams. This includes training, coaching and development of apprentices.
A ‘continuous improvement’ mindset.
Have an approachable demeanour with a team orientated mindset, be reliable, honest and hardworking whilst being open to feedback, and improvements.
All aspects of kitchen operations including cleaning and maintaining cleanliness, organisation of food stores and dry store and correct rotation of stock.

The Head Chef will report directly to the business owner/ General Manager, and work in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
The salary package is negotiable, and commensurate with the applicants’ skills and experience. 
Applicants minimum of 3 years in this role and must have completed a trade apprenticeship and hold a minimum of cert 3 in cookery or culinary skills.
