Job Title: Tour Operations Manager
Location: Byron Bay, NSW – with occasional travel to tour destinations (East Coast Australia & New Zealand)
Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 OTE

Role Overview:
As the Tour Operations Manager, you will be the driving force behind the planning and execution of our non-guided group tours. You will manage operational logistics, maintain vital vendor relationships, and ensure smooth tour experiences from start to finish. Collaborating with various departments—including marketing and customer service—you will help deliver seamless, unforgettable travel experiences that keep our guests coming back for more.
Key Responsibilities:
Tour Planning & Itinerary Management:
- Develop and refine engaging tour itineraries that capture the essence of independent yet supported travel.
- Collaborate with local partners, accommodation providers, and transport services to build comprehensive travel plans.
Operational Coordination:
Oversee all operational aspects of tours, including bookings, scheduling, logistics, and on-ground support.
- Act as the primary point of contact for tour-related inquiries, ensuring swift resolution of any issues that arise during travel.
Vendor & Partner Relations:
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with local vendors and service providers in Australia and New Zealand.
- Negotiate contracts and maintain high-quality standards across all services.
Budget & Compliance Management:
- Develop and manage tour budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness without sacrificing quality.
- Ensure all tour operations comply with local regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor tour logistics teams, fostering a proactive, problem-solving culture.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to promote tours and ensure a seamless customer experience.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in tour operations management, travel coordination, or a similar role within the travel industry.
- Proven experience managing group travel, especially within independent or backpacker-style tour environments.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing complex itineraries and multi-faceted travel operations.
- Familiarity with travel destinations on the East Coast of Australia and/or New Zealand is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with digital booking platforms and travel management software.
- A passion for adventure travel and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
