Bayside Room For Help Exchange In Brisbane

Sandgate Homestay Sandgate, Queensland

Job Description

Welcome to Brisbane :0)

Sandgate is 1/2 hour from the city by train and it takes 15 mins to walk from my house to the train station, Aldi, Woolworths, cafes, bars, restaurants etc.

If you are a clean, happy, friendly dog lover then you should come and stay with us :0)

The help exchange (15 hours a week) involves gardening, cleaning, doing house stuff, scratching Murphy's belly, and helping me get my other house (an Airbnb) ready between guests. The hours are very flexible; some people do a couple of hours a day, others prefer to do all their help hours in a few days.

We always start with a 1 week help exchange before confirming a longer stay to make sure we are a good match (some people have stayed months). We've had over 300 people stay with us since 2010 (yes, really over 300).

This is a NO smoking, NO vaping, NO drugs, NO fanatics, NO politics, NO drama, and NO crazy people house.
This is a YES to open-minded, YES to friendly, YES to positive, YES to laughter, YES to social drinking, and YES to sharing joy :0)

For your help, you'll have a simple, nice, and clean place to live with:
- Your private room with a queen bed
- Unlimited fast WiFi
- Full use of the kitchen
- Wonderful walks on bay just outside the house.
- Easy walk 15 minute walk to all buses, trains, shops, cafes, bars, Aldi, etc.

The house is suitable for mature travellers who want a quieter house near the ocean and nature. This is NOT a house for those who like to sleep at midnight, make phone calls at 11pm, come back at 1am (it's a house, not a hostel). Lucy lives on the ground floor apartment (we are friends) and I'm upstairs on the 1st floor house which is also where your room is.

Murphy goes between the two houses depending on where he thinks the best treats and belly scratches are.

Normally we also take couples, but the big room is under renovation, and the smaller double room is a bit too small for a couple, so we can only take solo travellers for now.

So we know you’ve read the message, please put the words “yellow donkey” somewhere in your email. Some people just apply for anything without reading a word. We wake up around 6am and you'll hear the coffee machine (don't worry, you don't have to get up then)...but we want you to know that this is a house that is awake early, and quieter at night :0)

Invitingly yours,
Joe, Lucy, and Murphy the dog
