Sammy Sessions Melbourne, Melbourne

Job Description

We are looking for a creative and organised backpacker to assist with launching and managing an exciting new YouTube channel led by an individual with lived experience of a disability. This temporary role is perfect for someone who enjoys both on-site filming and behind-the-scenes digital content creation, particularly in the vibrant food culture of Melbourne.

Your main responsibilities will involve supporting the content creator by helping with organising interviews with local chefs, assisting with on-site filming, and handling all post-production tasks remotely. This includes video editing, optimising YouTube content, and managing channel uploads. You will work closely with the host to ensure each video captures the essence of Melbourne's diverse food scene and promotes inclusivity and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Organising and Scheduling: Assist in planning and coordinating interviews with local chefs, cooks, and restaurant owners, ensuring all logistical arrangements are in place.
On-Site Filming Support: Help with filming on location, setting up equipment, managing sound and lighting, and capturing high-quality footage that aligns with the channel’s vision.
Remote Video Editing: Edit footage into compelling content from anywhere, ensuring engaging videos and effectively communicating the channel’s message.
YouTube Optimization: Optimize videos for YouTube, including keyword research, creating thumbnails, and writing titles, descriptions, and tags to attract a broader audience.
Content Upload Management: Handle the technical aspects of uploading videos to the channel, ensuring all content is correctly formatted and organised for maximum reach.
Performance Analysis: Monitor channel performance metrics, provide feedback, and suggest improvements to increase engagement and growth.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience in Video Production: Skilled in on-site filming and remote video editing.
Proficiency in Editing Software: Familiarity with tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar software.
Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to manage schedules, coordinate interviews, and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Knowledge of YouTube Best Practices: Understanding YouTube trends, SEO, and audience growth strategies.
Creative and Collaborative Mindset: Able to work closely with the host to bring creative ideas to life and produce content that resonates with viewers.
Adaptable and Independent: Comfortable working on-site for filming and remotely for editing, with strong time management skills.

Why Join Us?

Flexible Work Arrangement: Enjoy a mix of on-site filming in Melbourne and remote editing, offering a creative traveller the best of both worlds.
Make a Positive Impact: Contribute to a project highlighting Melbourne's food culture while promoting awareness around accessibility and inclusivity.
Creative Freedom: Use your skills to help shape unique and meaningful content that engages a diverse audience.
Learning and Growth Opportunities: Gain valuable experience in content creation, digital marketing, and channel management in a supportive environment.

About the Project:
This YouTube channel explores Melbourne's culinary landscape from a unique perspective, featuring interviews with local chefs, food reviews, and discussions on inclusive dining spaces. The host, with lived experience of a disability, will lead the interviews, bringing a fresh perspective to the content while fostering a community around food, diversity, and inclusivity.
