Leading Hand - Fitter And Turner

Seeking an experienced Fitter & Turner tradesperson who wants to give leading a team a go.

The Leading Hand will be responsible for:
- Leading a crew with the guidance of managers and supervisors.
- Assisting in the planning of workshop production by providing input to be able to maximise productivity gains and improve efficiencies
- Providing training and mentoring of apprentices and production employees
- Acting as a key resource for problem solving, offering guidance and support
- Sourcing and providing technical information and advice to staff and operations personnel.
- Ensuring infrastructure (plant and services, tools and equipment, jigs and fixtures, materials handling, etc.) is checked regularly and kept in good working order
- Ensuring all workshop activities are carried out in compliance with ISO9001, Bradken policies and procedures, and relevant safety regulations.
- Participation in internal and external audits where required
- Assisting in the development and installation of capital proposals where required

To be successful in the role, you will need:
- Mechanical trade qualification
- 2-5 years’ experience in a mechanical trade within a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Knowledge of safe working procedures
- Sound numeric reasoning
- Ability to communicate in English
- Knowledge of process improvement techniques (desirable)
