Dressage Groom/au Pair

Head Groom/Au Position Available – Gruyere, VIC

Based in Melbourne’s picturesque Yarra Valley, Spring Farm Dressage is home to modern equestrian facilities for both performance and pleasure horses.

We are looking for a mature, responsible and experienced horse professional to be our Head Groom. As we are family owned and operated with young children, we would also like to find someone who loves children and can also assist with their busy schedules.

Our ideal candidate would be dressage focused, have excellent attention to detail, be able to work independently and love every horse at the barn as their own.
We will have up to 20 horses at the property - a mix of our own and clients' horses. We pride ourselves in horse care excellence and will always go above and beyond to ensure every horse is cared for to the highest of standards.
We require someone who is experienced with large performance horses as some of our Warmbloods are over 18hh.

Head Groom duties include but are not limited to;
• Feeding & rugging stabled & paddocked horses (shared with our current morning stable hand)
• Cleaning stables to a very high standard (up to 8 stables per day with fresh sawdust daily)
• Moving horses between barn & paddocks
• Cleaning paddocks
• Daily Grooming of horses
• Keeping the barn and facilities exceptionally clean and tidy
• Lunging of horses
• Ridden work available depending on experience (not essential)
• Helping at shows/competitions or sole charge while we are away at a competition
• Holding horses for farrier/vet etc
• Daily health checks of all horses

Au pair duties (5yo & 8yo children);
• Assisting children with after school activities
• Light household duties
• Occasional School pick up & drop off

We are not in a rush to find the right person, so do not require an immediate starter. Ideally you will be ready to start in April.

This is a live-in position so will suit someone who wants to be part of our active family. We are offering a very large bedroom with a luxurious ensuite and lovely view. We have a pool, gym and a car available for you to use.
